Cicada study is a series of sculptures made of high-shrink abaca pulp stretched over soldered copper armatures. They contain thumper motors embedded into the paper pulp and controlled by an Attiny85 chip to simulate the fashion in which cicadas produce their call by beating against hollow membranes.
