Each shape in these compositions represents a body part's movement in a certain dance sequence. Utilizing a method of dance notation called Labanotation, I created a machine-parseable database of choreography to create the Taxonomy of Dance project. With this data, I was able to create representative elements for isolated body parts in each dance. Suminagashi (Japanese marbling)  elements are collaged beneath these elements, reflecting the imprint in time of ink's movement through water; just as the visualizations capture a dancer's movement through space.
